Dropbox iPad/iPhone App Update – Adds “Open In Dropbox” from Mail, Translations.
We use Dropbox a huge amount for moving files around and working together on documents – if you don’t already use it – it’s a terrific application for sharing files between computers and your mobile devices. You get 2GB of storage space free – and when save a file into the Dropbox, and it makes it available to all your computers, and your iPad and iPhone – including folders that can be shared with other people.

The new 1.4 version of the Dropbox App was released today for iPhone and iPad, and I notice it’s got a really useful new “Save to Dropbox” feature from Mail and other applications. In Mail on the iPhone, I can use the “Open In” feature with any Attachment, choose “Dropbox” and it’ll save it to my Dropbox where I can then save it to a Dropbox folder on another computer.
This is also really useful for adding images to your “Photos” Dropbox – which means they’d be shared using the easy “gallery” feature (Once you’ve setup Dropbox on your computer – check out http://dropbox.com/gallery) to see a gallery of your photos..
The other big thing about it is they’ve just announced translations for French, Japanese, German and Spanish…. with more to come – opening the product up to a bunch of other markets – and continuing their astonishing growth.
There’s an interesting post on their tech blog on the process they chose for translation – unlike FaceBook who had their ”community” translate it - Dropbox still they still recognise the benefit for a smaller business of outsourcing the translation – particularly when it comes down to their non-website content in the Applications for Mac, Windows, Linux and mobile devices.
Enjoy…
